Lakers offseason rumors: According to reports, LeBron, Los Angeles target Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook

LeBron James and the Lakers are hunting.

Los Angeles’ backcourt had some serious problems last season, and the acquisition of Dennis Schroeder did not fully pay off.

So now, it is reported that LeBron and Los Angeles are targeting some household names to help promote the position of point guard: Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook are both within their focus.

According to Marc Spears of The Undefeated:

According to sources, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking for a veteran point guard, and Paul is also on the list. There are also rumors that the Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook may return to Los Angeles through a sign-and-trade deal, which may include free agent point guard Dennis Schroder, forward Kyle Kuzma and guard Talen Horton-Tucker, the source said.

Anything involving Paul may depend on Paul’s opt-out of the remaining $44 million in the contract. This conclusion is not necessarily possible. As the Suns enter Game 6 of the NBA Finals, maybe Paul will be comfortable to throw another goal with Phoenix.

Of course, this will not be the easiest path in the Western Conference: Phoenix must compete with the (possibly) healthy Lakers and Warriors to return to this year’s position.

If the Lakers choose to target Westbrook, they will have to be creative through potential trades, which may include Kyle Kuzma, the picks (well, what are they left), and the advancement with Schroder. Change after signing.

Whether it is bringing Westbrook back to the West Coast or Paul fulfilling his fate as the Lakers, it is expected that the depth map of the Los Angeles team next season will be very different.
