Hull KR signed the Utilities Company Sam Wood from Huddersfield

With the signing of Huddersfield Utilities defender Sam Wood, Hull KR continues to recruit in 2022.

The 24-year-old has signed a one-year contract with Lachlan Coulter, Frankie Halton and Tom Garrett. They will become the new faces of Craven Park next season.

Wood has played more than 80 times for the Giants and is able to play on the team as an outside defender and halftime.

Hull KR coach Tony Smith said: “He has been in the Huddersfield system for some time and we think he has developed very well.

“Sam is seeking change, he needs to prove himself.

“I think Sam mainly sees himself as a center, but he can play on the wing, currently in the first half and second row.

“He brought us a lot of versatility and ambition. (Sam) wanted to succeed, he chose to come to us for success.

“This is a good standard. Anyone who wants to be a part of us and has a strong desire to wear a badge-this must come first.

“He has seen everything we are doing here and wants to be a part of it. He makes himself better and helps us become stronger.”
