Twitter reacts to Precious Achiuwa’s big blockade against Kevin Durant in the U.S. against Nigeria

Kevin Durant is one of the best basketball players in the world, but during the inaugural pre-Olympic exhibition of the US team on Saturday, the precious Achuwa temporarily defeated him.

Durant drove a layup late in the second quarter when the US team lost 90-87 to Nigeria, but was rejected by Akwa. The Heat forward perfectly grasped the timing of his jump and knocked Durant to the ground with a slap with his left hand.

Below are the matches viewed through the Heat’s Twitter account.

As impressive as Achiuwa’s real-time block, it looks better when you see how high Achiuwa must reach to complete the game.

The 21-year-old Achiuva averaged 1.4 blocks per 36 minutes with the Heat last season, so it’s no surprise to see him make key blocks. Nevertheless, after covering so much ground, it is quite impressive to get such a goal on Durant, who is 4 inches taller than Akiuwa.

Either way, NBA Twitter liked the game and praised Achiuwa’s efforts, while others joked about how Durant’s haters would deal with it.

Achiuwa also created a closure game for Nigeria. He grabbed a rebound from Zach LaVine and missed a free throw with 1.4 seconds left in the game.
