After losing to Italy on a penalty kick in the 2021 European Cup final, you can’t blame the English fans for feeling that bad luck is approaching every time the Three Lions take a penalty kick in a major game.
Including the recent defeat, the England national team has only a 30% win rate in the PK penalty shootouts of the European Cup, World Cup and National League. For some unknown reason, the Three Lions and penalty kicks did not seem to be mixed together, and even the most talented British players were faltering under the pressure of a 12-yard showdown.
Throughout the major games of the 1990s and 2000s, free throws have plagued England for generations, but they also won some victories.
