NASCAR’s Road America lineup: starting order, pole position for Sunday qualifying

On Sunday, NASCAR only qualified for the sixth time this season, when the drivers were driving on Road America’s 4.048-mile circuit, a KwikTrip (2:30 pm EST; NBC, TSN1, 4,5, MRN) .

As NASCAR tries to limit the time the teams spend on the track during the COVID-19 pandemic, qualifying on the track this season is rare. There are only 8 games planned for practice and qualifying in 2021; American Highway is the 6th game, joining Daytona (Daytona 500), Bristol’s dirt track, Americas Speedway, Charlotte (Coca-Cola 600) and Nashville.

The rest of the schedule will be used for the new circuit in the schedule (Road Circuit in Indianapolis) and the end of the season Championship 4 in Phoenix. Road America is also a “new” track: NASCAR’s Cup Series has not raced on the track since 1956, but the Xfinity Series has been racing there since 2010.

The following is the starting lineup for Sunday’s American-made 250 racehorse shown by KwikTrip at Road America.

Who won the pole position in Road America’s NASCAR race?

William Byron was the fastest of the 12 drivers to compete for pole position in the second round of qualifying. His lap time is 2 minutes 12.049 seconds (110.359 mph).

Byron’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson will sit with him in the front row of the starting line after qualifying second.

Their teammate Chase Elliott failed to advance to the second round. He did not record the lap time in the first round because the warning on the track slowed him down so much that he reached the starting line/finish line after the first round. He will start in 34th place.

Kyle Busch will descend to the back of the field to obtain the green flag. He crashed during practice, which forced his team to spare the car. Busch won the Xfinity race at Road America on Saturday.
