LeBron James may have participated in his last Olympic game.
In ESPN’s “Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin Show” program on Wednesday, Keyshawn Johnson asked US basketball general manager Jerry Colangelo whether the Lakers star would play for the US team again. Colangelo did not say whether he talked directly with James about his future in the US team, but he believes that the 36-year-old’s Olympic career is over.
“Father’s time pays. You know this, because if you are a human being, your body will be built so long according to your exercise type, and then it’s a downhill situation,” Colangelo said. “LeBron has made the choice not to participate in the past few Olympics because there are many things to happen in his life. So he invested time and made a commendable contribution, but I think his time is already ended.”
James was a member of the Olympic team in 2004, 2008 and 2012, and has won gold medals in his two most recent performances on the international stage. He gave up the opportunity to play for the US team in 2016 and opted out again this year.
After the Suns eliminated the Lakers from the 2021 NBA playoffs, James joked that he will play for “Tune Squad” instead of Team USA, which is a tribute to his upcoming movie “Space Jam: A new legacy.”
Although James on the roster will increase the chances of the US team winning the gold medal, the team going to Tokyo will certainly not lack talent.U.S. team Commitment received Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Jason Tatum and others before the Olympics.
“I am happy for the players who have been selected and look forward to having the opportunity to work with this excellent team when practice begins in Las Vegas on July 6.” US team coach Gregg Popovich said As part of the official roster of the US basketball team. “I am very happy to represent the United States in winning the gold medal in Tokyo.”
