Barry Bonds returns to the game-with a dog at the 145th Westminster Dog Show

From “The Show” to “Best of Show”?

(It should be) Barry Bonds, a member of the Hall of Famer, returns to the athletic arena, a bit like: Bonds and his dog Rocky are part of the 145th Westminster Dog Show, during which the miniature schnauzer participated in the terrier group.

Bonds appeared on FS1 to praise his puppy’s virtues, and when discussing his dog on the radio, he was very happy:

“In about 25 years, my sister bought a miniature schnauzer, and I bought one with her,” Bonds said on the radio. … “She does all the work. I won’t sit there and say I do—I don’t do much. My sister does all of this. I support her to death. She is my best friend in the world.

“This is great,” Bonds continued. “Just come here and see it. It’s beautiful. I’ve watched it on TV for many years. But it’s great to be here, and it’s more comforting to have a dog here.”

Bonds said he has two miniature schnauzers: Salt and Pepper Lodge and Black Haired Apollo. Bonds admitted that the dogs were named after the characters in the famous “Rocky” movie series.

Unfortunately, Rocky was not selected as the winner of the group. Nevertheless, Bonds is happy to be there.

“The reward is here,” Bonds said with a smile. “He is qualified and this is the reward. Like I was sitting there and saying, when I played baseball, it just got there. I have played in many playoffs, I have been to the World Series, and I have never won. But for 22 years, I have been working hard.

“But the actual thing is professional ethics. This is how you do it and how you get there. I’m just proud of him being here. I didn’t expect anything. I didn’t look at him. I’m not nervous. I just do it for him. Well done and he is proud of being qualified to be here.”

Bonds is the home run king in the history of the league, but his career is deeply trapped in allegations of using steroids, making his chances of being elected to the Hall of Fame increasingly slim. The next round of voting in 2022 will be the last chance for Bonds to enter. He ended with 61% of the votes in the ninth ballot and required 75% of the votes to enter.

Although Bonds has never worn a ring in his entire career, perhaps he has a future in participating in a dog show.
